In what promises to be an exciting and vibrant event, the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Student Union Government Electoral Commission (SUG ECO) has officially kicked off the process for the upcoming Student Union Government (SUG) elections.

This marks a significant moment in the life of the university, as students aspiring to lead their peers can now purchase forms to officially declare their candidacy and embark on campaign journeys that will shape the university’s future.

This democratic process will involves several key stages which includes:

1. Sales of Nomination Forms: The first step in the SUG election process is the sale of nomination forms by the SUG ECO. As of this announcement, these forms are now available to interested students who meet the eligibility criteria.

2. Aspirants Declare Candidacy: Aspirants, once they have purchased the nomination forms, officially declare their candidacy for various SUG positions. These positions include the president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and various departmental and faculty representatives.

3. Campaign Period Begins: With the declaration of candidacy, the campaign period officially commences. This is a time when aspirants can articulate their vision, mission, and plans for the university to the student body. It’s an opportunity for them to engage in open debates, discussions, and outreach to garner support.

LIFTING OF BAN AND COMMENCEMENT OF SALE OF FORMS FOR STUDENT UNION ELECTION 2022/2023

Dearest OOUITES,

The Electoral Commission is delighted to announce the lifting of the ban on Student Union campaign activities and the commencement of the sale of forms for interested aspirants as from Monday, 11th September, 2023. It should be noted that this step is a furtherance of our commitment towards our meticulous preparation of conducting a credible election.

The sale of forms for both CEC and SHS aspirants will be open until FRIDAY, 15TH OF SEPTEMBER, 2023. The cost of the form for the CEC offices are stipulated as thus;

1. PRESIDENT – #15,000.
2. VICE-PRESIDENT (i,ii, iii,iv,) – #10,000.
3. GENERAL SECRETARY – #10,000.
4. AGS (i,ii,iii,iv) – #8,000.
5. PRO – #8,000.
6. LEGAL DIRECTOR – #10,000.
7. WELFARE DIRECTOR – #10,000.
8. FINANCIAL SECRETARY -#10,000.
9. MEDICAL DIRECTOR – #10,000.
10. SPORT SECRETARY – #10,000.
11. SOCIAL DIRECTOR – #10,000

The cost for the SHS is pegged at #8,000.

It should be noted that CEC ASPIRANTS are required to make payment into the Financial Secretary account below:

Afterwards screenshot/evidence of payment is to be forwarded to the Chairman of the commission to obtain the form. The SHS aspirants are to consult with their ECO representatives on the mode of payment.
