THINGS just got extremely interesting in the English Premier League after Manchester City’s shock slip-up last week at home to Spurs.
And title challengers Liverpool will be desperately hoping for a favour from their city rivals across Stanley Park when Pep Guardiola’s superstars visit Merseyside on Saturday night. Few would have bet on a notoriously flaky Tottenham side to go to the Etihad and not only win, but win in the circumstances they managed after City equalised in injury time and still lost.
It would go from blip to panic stations if Frank Lampard’s men were to inflict another defeat, but to put it into perspective, that was Manchester City’s first defeat in the league since October. They had been utterly relentless after 14 wins and a draw in the league since then.
Everton initially showed signs of life again after the arrival of the Chelsea legend, but they are still far too inconsistent as recent defeats at Newcastle United and Southampton showed. However, Everton could be a tough nut to crack at Goodison Park in front of passionate Evertonians on a Saturday night.
