Deji Adeyanju, an activist, has given the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) advice on what to do in response to Friday’s Appeal Court ruling ordering professors to start working right away.
In a post on Saturday, Adeyanju urged the ASUU to end its seven-month strike in compliance with the judge’s order.
He did advise ASUU to start a new strike right away after ending the current one, though.
He claimed that the universities’ inability to function without enough funds would serve as reason for yet another strike.
He asked ASUU not to challenge the decision, stating that this would continue until the universities were properly supported.
“ASUU should end the strike and then start another one right away. A new strike will be justified by the fact that our universities can hardly function without adequate finance.
Repeat the process until our postsecondary institutions are adequately funded. Learn to read the room; don’t challenge the AC decision,” he wrote on his social media account.
